Hamas praised the announcement by Yemen’s Houthis regarding the resumption of its attacks on Israeli ships in the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, Bab El-Mandab and the Gulf of Aden. The movement stated that this escalation comes in response to Israel’s continued closure of border crossings and its prevention of humanitarian aid, including food and medicine, from entering the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, Hamas said the Houthis’ decision “expresses the genuine stance of the Yemeni people and their leadership, as well as their true commitment to supporting the Palestinian people and their resistance. It also exerts real pressure to break the unjust blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip.”

Hamas further called on “the peoples of the Arab and Islamic nations and all free people around the world to escalate their active movements to pressure the Zionist occupation and its supporters until the aggression ends, the blockade on Gaza is lifted, and humanitarian aid reaches our besieged people.”

On Tuesday, the spokesperson for the Yemeni Armed Forces affiliated with the Houthis announced the resumption of the ban on Israeli ships in the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, and Bab El-Mandab.

Brigadier General Yahya Saree stated: “After our deadline for Israel to allow aid into Gaza expired, we announce the resumption of our attacks against Israeli ships.”
