The Kuwaiti Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) has referred a former minister to the Public Prosecution on suspicion of embezzling public funds, according to Al Khaleej Online.

In a statement issued yesterday, Nazaha said the alleged offence is directly linked to the felony of using an official document with no legal validity.

The authority reaffirmed its commitment to continuing efforts to examine, collect evidence, and investigate any credible and well-substantiated information it receives by any means.

Since assuming power on 20 December 2023, Kuwait’s Emir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, has adopted a strict policy to address the political conflicts and disputes that have affected the country in recent years. His leadership has also seen the implementation of a firm anti-corruption strategy.

Kuwait launched a large-scale anti-corruption campaign at the beginning of last year, targeting former and current MPs and senior officials.
