Palestinian Forum in Britain’s 9th annual Iftar hosted an evening in West London that blended faith, culture, and activism in support of Gaza, on 15 March 2025

Over 1,000 people gathered in West London on Saturday, 15 March 2025, for the Palestinian Forum in Britain’s 9th annual Iftar—an evening that blended faith, culture, and activism in support of Gaza.

Against the backdrop of ongoing Israeli attacks and a tightening blockade, the event became more than just a communal meal; it was a powerful show of solidarity, with attendees raising funds to support families in Gaza and calling for greater political action.

Raising Funds for Gaza and Calling for Political Action

During the evening, attendees raised enough funds to sponsor 40 families in Gaza, as people there continue to suffer under relentless attacks and a suffocating blockade.

Guest reciter Ahmed Al-Nafis led prayers, offering heartfelt supplications for Gaza in a moving moment of reflection. Meanwhile, forum spokesperson Maisara Ibrahim called for stronger political pressure on the UK government to stop arms exports to Israel and to end restrictions on pro-Palestine demonstrations. He stressed that protests must continue as long as Israel’s actions go unchallenged.

Culture, Community, and Unwavering Support

The evening also featured a cultural quiz and documentary screenings capturing life under siege in Gaza, leaving a lasting impact on attendees. Traditional Palestinian food, including kunafa and other local favourites, added to the sense of community, blending heritage with activism.

The large turnout underscored Britain’s growing public support for Palestine, with attendees reaffirming their commitment to stand with Gaza until justice is served and the occupation ends.
