The Government Media Office (GMO) in the Gaza Strip has said that a number of government officials were killed in Israeli bombing raids on the enclave at dawn on Tuesday, the Palestinian Information Centre has reported.
The GMO named the officials as the head of the Government Administrative Committee, Commander Essam Al-Da’alis; the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, Commander Ahmed Al-Hetta; the Undersecretary of the Interior Ministry, Major General Mahmoud Abu Watfa; and the Director-General of the Internal Security Agency, Major General Bahjat Abu Sultan.
The statement explained that they and their families were targeted by Israeli occupation warplanes. Hundreds of others were also killed in the renewed air strikes.
The GMO stressed that the martyrdom of the government officials “will not deter us from performing our national duty towards our Palestinian people and continuing to fulfil our religious and moral duties and accomplishing our professional role to serve our people and support their steadfastness and fortitude in the face of this barbaric aggression.”
The Israeli occupation army resumed its aggression against the Gaza Strip in a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement. Israeli air strikes targeted various areas in the Strip, killing more than 400 Palestinians and wounding hundreds more.
