Former Israeli prime minister Naftali Bennett has accused Benjamin Netanyahu of “outright treason” over his opposition to an investigation into allegations about Qatari officials and individuals within the current prime minister’s office. “He continues to cover up the event and is fighting the investigators,” claimed Bennett.

Netanyahu’s former spokesman Eli Feldstein has been indicted for compromising national security by stealing and leaking classified documents from the Israeli occupation forces. It has been alleged that he had worked for Qatar through an international company engaged in the promotion of pro-Qatar narratives in Israeli media.

“The Prime Minister’s Office is Israel’s most sensitive security hub,” said Bennett. “If these actions were done knowingly, it’s outright treason. If unknowingly, it means Qatar has infiltrated Israel’s leadership.”

The government and its leader have “completely shattered” any shred of public trust in their motives, said Bennett. “They have no moral authority to send soldiers into battle.” How can anyone trust the decisions of a man whose office is filled with spies funded by Israel’s enemies? he asked.

“I’ll say it again because it’s so hard to fathom: The terrorist [sic] government of Qatar financed the security spokesman of the Israeli prime minister, during wartime.”
