Egypt army prepared to confront all challenges, spokesperson says

Egyptian military spokesman Brigadier General Gharib Abdel Hafez confirmed that the armed forces are ready to confront all challenges facing the state.

In statements to the official Middle East News Agency, Abdel Hafez said the Egyptian Armed Forces focus solely on preserving the country’s national security, pointing to intensive activity by all members of the armed forces to ensure the forces’ preparedness.

He stressed that “national alignment behind the political leadership during the current phase is the true guarantee for overcoming all challenges facing the Egyptian state”.

Regarding the Palestinian issue, he emphasised the political leadership’s position on the matter, saying, “It is clear and consistent and has not changed since 1948” which is based on the need of establishing a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, to ensure security and stability in the region.

He emphasised that the displacement of the Palestinian people from their land means the liquidation of the Palestinian cause.
