Syrian security forces yesterday seized weapons and ammunition that were set to be delivered to remnants of the ousted regime in Deir Ez-Zor, eastern Syria, Anadolu reported.
According to Deir Ez-Zor province’s official Telegram channel, the General Security Directorate in the province intercepted a shipment of military-grade weapons and ammunition intended for delivery to elements of the former regime in the city.
The directorate did not disclose further details regarding the types or quantities of the weapons seized.
Since the overthrow of Bashar Al-Assad’s regime, the Military Operations Directorate has established reconciliation centres for former regime elements to surrender their weapons. However, some have refused to comply, leading to security operations in various provinces.
