The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA ), Philippe Lazzarini, yesterday condemned the killing of an UNRWA staff member in an Israeli occupation army air strike, describing the incident as “another black day for the UN in #Gaza.”

In a post on X, Lazzarini expressed the agency’s deepest condolences to colleagues at the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) for their tragic loss and wished a swift recovery for the injured.
He stressed that the killing and injury of UN staff in Gaza marks “another black day” for the organisation, emphasising the urgent need to protect humanitarian workers at all times.
“The #UN including @UNRWA continue to pay a heavy price while undertaking humanitarian duties,” Lazzarini added.
