Palestinian Ambassador Nadya Rasheed formally presented her credentials to Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum on Wednesday.
“The Ambassador expressed the gratitude of the Palestinian people and government for Mexico’s defence of human values,” the embassy said in a statement.
Sheinbaum led her government’s drive to officially recognise the State of Palestine last October, saying: “We condemn the aggression being experienced, and we also believe that the Palestinian state must be recognised in all its fullness, just as the state of Israel is recognised. This has been Mexico’s position for many years, and it is the position we maintain.”
Rasheed, on her account on X, expressed her appreciation to Sheinbaum for recognising the State of Palestine.
“What an honour and a privilege to meet a leader who embodies the true essence of humanity – championing human rights for all, regardless of religion or heritage, as the world should strive to do,” she wrote yesterday.
