The White House said yesterday that US President Donald Trump “fully supports” Israel’s resumption of military operations, including air strikes and ground offensives, in the besieged Gaza Strip. Adding that he held Hamas responsible for the situation.
In response to a question about whether Trump was seeking to reinstate the ceasefire in Gaza, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt told reporters that the US president “fully supports Israel and the IDF and the actions that they’ve taken in recent days.”
The spokesperson added that Trump has made it clear to Hamas that it will pay a heavy price if it does not release the hostages.
Earlier, the White House confirmed that Israel consulted the Trump administration before launching a series of large-scale air strikes on Gaza on Tuesday, leading to the deadliest day of bombing since Israel launched its genocidal campaign in October 2023.
The White House spokesperson stressed that Trump has made clear, Hamas, the Houthis, Iran, and anyone who seeks to terrorise not only Israel but also the United States will pay a high price.
