The Israeli Supreme Court on Friday froze the government’s decision to dismiss Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar, pending a review of petitions submitted objecting to his dismissal, reported Channel 12.
According to the Supreme Court, Bar’s dismissal is frozen until a hearing on the matter no later than 8 April, requiring the government to respond to the petitions in writing by next Monday.
During his cabinet meeting yesterday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hinted that he would not comply with the Supreme Court’s decision, asking: “Can anyone imagine that we would continue to work without trust because of a court order? That cannot happen, and it will not happen.”
Earlier, Israeli police decided to summon former Shin Bet Director Nadav Argaman for questioning after Netanyahu filed a complaint against him.
