Egypt’s Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Tayeb, and Coptic Pope Tawadros II have affirmed their complete rejection of all schemes aimed at displacing the Palestinian people from their land and homeland.

The Muslim and Christian leaders made their statement during a reception organised by Sheikh Al-Tayeb for Pope Tawadros who visited Al-Azhar on Monday to offer congratulations on the approach of Eid Al-Fitr.

Their meeting also addressed current crises, most notably Israel’s brutal aggression against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Sheikh Al-Tayeb stressed that the current situation is difficult and complex, especially after Israel violated the ceasefire agreement. He also noted the recent Israeli attack on the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis.

The two faith group leaders condemned the international silence that has allowed Israel to continue killing innocent people.
