Israel had violated the Gaza ceasefire agreement even before it returned to bombing the Strip last week, Quds Press reported the Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi saying yesterday.

In a speech to the Jordanian Parliament, Safadi added that Israel halted humanitarian, medical and food aid to the region at the start of the month, in violation of the ceasefire deal.

He stressed that a joint Egyptian-Qatari operations room to monitor compliance with the terms of the deal recorded over 900 Israeli violations of the ceasefire over the 40 days before Israel resumed its bombing campaign on the morning of 18 March.

These violations included military operations that resulted in the deaths of more than 70 Gazans. Additionally, Israel prevented the entry of essential caravans and tents to house displaced people in Gaza, after the Israeli military destroyed more than 70 per cent of Gaza’s infrastructure, including homes, schools, mosques, churches and streets.

He also pointed out that Israel stopped supplying Gaza with electricity and caused a severe shortage of drinking water by targeting water supply stations.
