Australia hosted a vigil mourning the murder of more than 200 journalists in Gaza, an Australian journalist, David Milner, said on X.
The vigil was hosted in front of Australia’s ABC News Agency building in Sydney.
“Outside the ABC, a vigil mourns the murders of more than 200 journalists in Gaza, the stories of their final moments told in a way an ABC broadcast never could,” Milner said.
He noted that journalists leaving the ABC building attempted to avoid making eye contact because of “shame or the murderous cognitive dissonance that comes with supporting genocide while convincing yourself you’re the good guys.”

At least 208 Palestinian journalists have been killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip since October 2023, according to the Government Media Office. The Israeli occupation army launched a surprise aerial campaign on the Gaza Strip on 18 March, killing 830 people, injuring nearly 1,800 others, and shattering a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that took hold in January.
The UN estimates that around 124,000 Palestinians have been displaced again since Israel resumed its attacks on Gaza.
