Qatar announced on Wednesday that its mediation efforts successfully reunited two more groups of children with their families in Russia and Ukraine in March, Anadolu reported.

This initiative is part of Doha’s ongoing humanitarian efforts to address the impact of the conflict between the two countries.

The ministry did not disclose the number of children reunited with their families but said: “This step is part of Doha’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to bring perspectives closer and resolve conflicts through peaceful means, in accordance with the principles of international law.”

Since October 2023, Qatar has facilitated the reunification of dozens of Ukrainian and Russian children with their families as part of its mediation efforts.

These reunification operations involve transferring children from their locations in Russia or Ukraine to their home countries, where they are reunited with their families.

Russia launched a military offensive against Ukraine on 24 February 2022, demanding that Kyiv abandon its bid to join Western military alliances— a condition Ukraine considers an infringement on its sovereignty.
