A plane carrying 81 wounded and cancer patients from the Gaza Strip arrived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Friday from Ramon Airport in Israel for treatment at Emirati hospitals, accompanied by 107 of their family members.

The UAE Foreign Aid Coordination Office stated that the transfer of the patients was carried out in cooperation with the World Health Organization and included a large percentage of children. It noted that this was under directives issued by President of the UAE Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to provide treatment and healthcare to 1,000 wounded Palestinian children and 1,000 cancer patients from the Gaza Strip in UAE hospitals.

Immediately upon the plane’s arrival, medical teams transported the wounded and injured whose conditions required immediate hospitalisation. The remaining patients and their companions were transferred to the Emirati Humanitarian City.

Deputy Director-General of the UAE Agency for International Aid Sultan Al Shamsi confirmed: “The UAE’s ongoing medical evacuation efforts reflect its commitment to providing advanced healthcare to injured Palestinians and contributing to providing humanitarian support during the critical situation that the population in Gaza is facing.”
