Channel 12: Mossad chief dismisses senior officials after reported failure to topple Iranian regime

The head of the Mossad has dismissed the chiefs of two divisions following what was described as a “failure to achieve the goal of toppling the Iranian regime”, Israel’s Channel 12 reported, citing sources.

According to the report, the dismissals followed an internal review of the agency’s recent performance. The Mossad chief reportedly held senior officials in the two divisions responsible for failing to carry out their assigned missions.

The broadcaster did not identify the officials who were dismissed or provide details of the operations that allegedly failed. However, it said the decisions were linked to Israeli efforts aimed at undermining the stability of Iran’s ruling system.

The report comes amid years of escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, including intelligence operations, targeted killings, cyberattacks and indirect confrontations across the region.

The Mossad is Israel’s foreign intelligence agency, responsible for gathering intelligence and conducting covert operations outside the country. Its activities are typically subject to internal oversight and performance reviews that are rarely made public.
