Qatar, Egypt, Jordan condemn Iranian attacks on Arab states, warn of regional escalation

Qatar, Egypt, and Jordan on Wednesday condemned Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting neighboring countries including Kuwait and Bahrain, warning that continued military escalation risks deepening regional instability and undermining diplomatic efforts to contain tensions, Anadolu reports.

Egypt strongly condemned the attacks, saying they “violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity” of the targeted Arab states and represent a “dangerous escalation threatening regional security, stability and the safety of their peoples.”

Cairo expressed “full solidarity” with Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan and rejected “any attacks targeting the security, sovereignty or territorial integrity” of Arab states.

Egypt also warned that continued escalation could lead to a “vicious cycle” of confrontation and instability, threatening both regional and international security as well as freedom of international navigation.

Similarly, Qatar warned on Wednesday that renewed Iranian attacks on Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait constitute a dangerous escalation that could complicate efforts to contain tensions and undermine diplomatic initiatives aimed at restoring security and stability in the region.

In a statement, the Qatari Foreign Ministry said the attacks represent a “flagrant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity” of the targeted countries and a “breach of international law, the UN Charter and the principles of good-neighborly relations.”

The ministry held Iran “fully legally responsible” for the attacks and their resulting repercussions and consequences.

It warned that the “continuation of the attacks threatens to undermine political and diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the region.”

The ministry urged all parties to refrain from steps that could “widen the escalation” and called for a “serious return to dialogue and negotiations,” as well as adherence to understandings reached through diplomatic efforts.

Jordan also condemned the “blatant” Iranian attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait, calling them a “flagrant violation of their sovereignty and a threat to their security, stability and territorial integrity,” as well as a “dangerous escalation and serious breach of international law and the UN Charter.”

In a statement, Jordan’s Foreign Ministry affirmed the kingdom’s “full solidarity” with Bahrain and Kuwait and its support for “any measures they take to protect their sovereignty, security, and the safety of their citizens and residents.”

Earlier, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that it had attacked several US military facilities in neighboring countries, including Kuwait, the UAE, Jordan, Bahrain and Iraq.

It said the attacks were carried out in retaliation for US strikes on residential areas in Iran a day earlier.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced late Tuesday that it had launched strikes against IRGC targets in Iran.

Following the announcement, Iranian media reported explosions on Qeshm Island, as well as in Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Chabahar and Konarak.
