Though Israel has continued its genocidal war with impunity, regional forces have come out in support of the Palestinians. A day after Israel launched its bombing campaign on Gaza, Hezbollah began firing rockets at the occupation state in support of Palestinians in the enclave, saying it would only stop once a ceasefire was agreed and Israel withdrew from the coastal strip.
Yemen’s Houthi group used their position on the intersection of vital global waterways to shift the balance of power. The Houthis announced that they would target any Israel-linked ship making its way to the Suez Canal or to the Israeli port of Eilat.
The resultant strikes on shipping vessels forced many to redirect their fleet and make the longer journey around the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa, extending their journey times by some 2 weeks.
Turkiye, Iran and Qatar have also voiced support for Palestinians, with Doha hosting ceasefire talks along with Egypt and the US.
Civilians in Jordan held protests and tried to stop food deliveries being sent from the kingdom to Israel through the land crossing.
